LATVIAN HUNTERS ASSOCIATION (LATMA)
LATMA is nongovernmental, non-profit organization, founded in April 2000. Being the biggest organization that unites Latvian hunters, LATMA represents their interests both on national and international level. Since September 2000 LATMA is a member of Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation of the EU (FACE) and since 1993 - member of International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC).
LATMA main objectives:
- Improvement of game management as a part of conservation of wild animals and their different habitat according to principles of sustainable use
- Promotion of hunting (as a part of eco-tourism)
- Corporation with governmental authorities in order to work out and implement hunting laws and normative acts
LATMA main activities:
- LATMA provides consultations for its members concerning game management, hunting legislation and other questions connected with hunting and wildlife. Association also takes part in scientific researches of game population.
- Organizing trainings for hunters, trophy and hunting dog experts
- Organizing of trophy exhibitions and hunting dog shows as well as other social activities for hunters
